Wadena County Human Services Child Protection Social Services Supervisor in Wadena, Minnesota
Under the direction of the Agency Director, performs highly responsible professional work in the administration and supervision of social service programs involving the interpretation and assessment of policies and the supervision of professionals and support personnel assigned to the CP Unit; assumes responsibility for designated programs; and performs related work as assigned. Supervision/Managerial Duties and Responsibilities Selects qualified personnel for the unit in conjunction with the Human Services Director. Evaluates staff performance and recommends appropriate action. Identifies staff development and training needs and ensure that training is obtained and completed. Holds individual minimum monthly supervision with staff and interprets agency/state policies, rules, and regulations. Reviews case records to ensure that agency and state policies, rules and regulations are adhered to and proper social work practices are being observed. Monitors and evaluates the provision of client services in the program area. Fosters effective community-agency relations and organizes community projects. Participates in community meetings and is responsible for the utilization of community resources. Writes and monitors purchase of service contracts with area vendors. Interviews clients when special problems arise, listens to concerns, grievances and recommends/takes appropriate action. Handles emergency situations when necessary. Performs program analysis and needs assessment. Monitors budget and keeps management apprised of budget deviations. Provides justification for budget deviations to management staff and/or county board. Assists in the planning and development of social services budget and provides the justification and rationale to county board regarding social service unit/division budget needs and requests. Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to the work. Ensures staff compliance with federal and state laws, rules, and county policies. Provides limited case management services/MN Choice assessments. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director. Attends and participate in unit training. Attends training/workshops outside agency as applicable/available. Completes DHS web-based training when appropriate. Participates in annual individual evaluations. Answers co-worker questions; consults with co-workers when appropriate. Reads routed material in a timely manner. Researches manual materials; on-line materials. Seeks help from DHS as needed. Attends and participate in staff meetings. Attends agency meetings. Attends Board meetings when requested. Assists in completing agency reports. Participates in agency reorganization (files, procedures, etc.) as requested. Participates in community public relations efforts when requested. Performs other duties as assigned by Director.
