Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provide leadership to and coordinate the technical aspects of assigned laboratories
Delegate tasks to the team as necessary to ensure efficient use of time and other resources; function as the go-resource for questions or issues
Create a working environment, which gives employees the opportunity to achieve the highest level of personal satisfaction through the attainment of their professional and personal goals
Ensure that technicians maintain their certifications to perform all analyses required
Provide technical service and support to producers, external customers, and staff in a manner that clearly meets their expectations
Ensure that the assigned laboratories are always maintained in safe, clean and sanitary condition
Ensure that all lab and other staff members are aware of the presence of potentially hazardous material in the assigned laboratories and advise them of proper protection procedures in the event of an accident
Ensure that all lab staff members comply with the laboratory hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal plans
Ensure that all analytical equipment in the assigned laboratories is maintained according to manufacturers’ recommendations and laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Ensure that the assigned laboratories maintain an adequate inventory of the consumable supplies needed to perform all required analyses at all times
Stay current with advances in analytical methods and potential demand for analytical services. Make recommendations regarding introduction of new technology and services
Provide necessary data for routine reports to customers and regulatory agencies as required

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Undergraduate degree in biology, microbiology or related curriculum preferred
4 to 6 years of lab or related experience with demonstrated leadership attributes
Certification and/or License – Current, valid, regulatory certifications to perform all required analyses in the assigned labs. Maintaining certification is mandatory for continued employment in this position
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems
