Regions Hospital Health Unit Coordinator in St. Paul, Minnesota

Regions Hospital is seeking a bright, organized Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to join our team in our Mental Health department. The HUC provides exceptional customer service to patients and visitors through welcoming behaviors, effective communication, and information sharing. With oversight by the nurse manager/charge nurse, you will: Independently performs clerical/receptionist functions on a patient care unit. Facilitate communication between staff, patients, families and care providers, and between the unit and other hospital departments. Organize and maintain unit supplies necessary for daily activities. Prepare and maintain patient records. Perform data entry into the computerized patient information system. Serve as a resource person to medical staff regarding hospital protocols. Simultaneously manage many activities impacting patient care. Monitor patient electronic record to ensure care is progressing and prevent omissions or delay of order implementation. Perform related duties as assigned. Work schedule: FTE: .5 (20 hrs. weekly), Day/Evening shift Required Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience: Previous experience or recent education (within one year) with office procedures and equipment. Computer experience and knowledge of medical terminology required. Previous customer service experience that included personal interactions both in person and on the phone, problem solving and skill in balancing needs of guests and colleagues alike is also required. Preferred Qualifications: Education or experience in health care field.
