Salvation Army Custodian in St. Paul, Minnesota
Position Summary The Salvation Army St Paul Eastside is "doing the most good" by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include short and long-term case management; food, clothing, utility, rent, and housing support; and connections to community partners. The Custodian ensures a clean, organized, and functional facility by performing custodial duties, maintaining grounds, supporting events, and assisting with minor repairs and projects. $16.00/hour, 20 - 24 hours/week 1019 Payne Ave, St. Paul, MN 55130 Essential Functions (approximate time spent) Custodial Duties (85%): Perform custodial duties to maintain clean, tidy, and sanitary conditions throughout assigned areas (e.g., Chapel, offices, gym, common areas, bathrooms). Grounds and Maintenance (5%): Maintain building grounds including picking up rubbish and light landscaping. This may include some snow removal and vehicle maintenance. Event Support (5%): Assist with special/seasonal events, including room set up, driving supplies, etc. Minor Repairs and Projects (5%): Assist maintenance with minor repairs and projects as assigned. Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent required. Two years of custodial experience. Pass background checks. Valid driver's license and clear MVR preferred. Competencies Working knowledge of safe handling of equipment, chemicals, and materials regularly used in basic maintenance and custodial duties. Ability to perform some or all physical tasks including lifting, scrubbing, sweeping, mopping, and other custodial duties. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to use PC. Working Conditions Regular physical work and must be able to stand, bend, crouch, reach, climb, and walk for most of the shift. Regularly lift 50 pound and lift 75 pounds required occasionally. Professional environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment. Must be able to communicate clearly with colleagues. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Driving/Travel Requirements If approved to drive, may drive an agency vehicle locally to support the mission of The Salvation Army.
