As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic Intern with Duininck Inc., you will have an opportunity to gain hands on experience, both in the shop and in the field, diagnosing and repairing heavy construction equipment. We are looking for an intern who wants to get their hands dirty, enjoys problem-solving and working with heavy construction equipment. Essential Duties & Position Responsibilities: * Responsible for performing the maintenance and repairs on all types of equipment as directed by the maintenance schedule, adjusting as needed. * Performs diagnostics to identify issues and make necessary adjustments to equipment for safe and efficient operation. * Takes part in scheduled preventive maintenance projects within the shop and field as needed. * Performs all work according to OSHA | MSHA safety policies. * Perform other duties as required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: * Currently enrolled in a 2-year degree program in diesel mechanics, construction, agricultural equipment mechanics or related study * Ability to demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills * Own mechanic tool set * Ability to maintain a safe and clean environment * High level of energy and motivation. * Ability to work flexible hours with some weekend and holiday work required. * Must be a strong team player, able to work effectively with a variety of people, personalities, skills and organizational levels. Physical and other requirements: * Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 80 pounds. * Walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch and sit. * Work extended hours out of doors in a variety of weather conditions. * Travel and some Saturday work are required.
