Murray County Deputy County Recorder in Slayton, Minnesota
This position assists the County Recorder on being a custodian of all real estate records of the County pertaining to property titles. In addition, this position is responsible for reviewing all documents to ensure they meet legal requirements for recording, collecting and receipting appropriate fees, scanning and indexing documents, returning documents to presenter, providing accurate and timely recording of documents and accepting and processing passport applications. This position is expected to provide high-quality customers service regarding department issues, documents and concerns. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reviews and records all real estate documents in both abstract and torrens Assist County Recorder as custodian of all official real estate documents submitted for recording recordability, legal compliance and notary complete (Abstract, Torrens, Plat and Federal and State Tax Lien documents); Open all mail and review all acceptable instruments presented such as deeds, mortgages and numerous other legal documents to check statutory requirements; Processes documents in Torrens (Registered Land) system, images and maintains documents on computer, issues certificates, keeps abreast of Torrens regulations, and generally functions as the Deputy Registrar of Titles; Verifies real estate documents in the land records and imaging system in order to provide reporting on statutory compliance. Serves as customer service agent for Department Accept and process passport applications; Responds to the public s phone calls, letters and in person inquiries regarding procedure, property descriptions, family genealogy and searching files for information when necessary and answers questions and/or refers public to the appropriate department. Responsible for scanning, indexing and tracting of real estate documents Reviews deeds and other documents for accuracy and completeness to determine legal document acceptability according to Real Estate Law; Responsible for special projects; Responsible for back indexing documents into AVID system; Establishes and maintains all books of record, files and indexes according to statutory requirements; Receipts and records documents daily in reception books and registers and is responsible for daily data entry, imaging, and retaining of all recorded documents. Assists County Recorder Assumes duties of Recorder in the absence of the County Recorder and provides work direction as needed; Prepare daily and monthly reports; Prepare daily and monthly invoices; Collect fees and process receipts; Assists with budget preparation of Department.
