Robert Half Staff Accountant in Saint Paul, Minnesota

Description

We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our non-profit organization based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The role primarily involves managing comprehensive accounting activities to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of our financial statements and reports. This role is a contract to hire employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

• Conduct detailed reviews of general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries as needed.

• Perform account analysis and reconciliations, focusing on multiple balance sheet account reconciliations.

• Enter data accurately into the general ledger accounting system in a timely manner.

• Ensure all journal entries are entered into the accounting system prior to the end of the month.

• Assist with the annual audit by preparing account reconciliations and other schedules as requested.

• Record and maintain accurate transactional entries and reconciliations monthly.

• Prepare general ledger entries to record retail sales based on Point-of-Sale reports and E-Commerce revenues.

• Reconcile cash donations to the development software accurately and promptly.

• Record and manage monthly fixed asset purchases and depreciation.

• Monitor bank accounts for fraudulent activity and answer questions regarding checks clearing and ACH Activity.

• Provide backup support to other positions in the department as needed.

• Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant in a non-profit setting

• Strong knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Experience with Bank Reconciliations and General Ledger management

• Proficient in creating and managing Journal Entries

• Experience with Month End Close procedures

• Familiarity with Great Plains software

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Familiarity with non-profit financial regulations and standards.
