Our team is building a cloud-native platform for Fusion Applications that operates at very large scale in a distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. We focus on transforming how Software Developers and DevOps engineers build and manage cloud applications for enterprise customers using Oracle technologies. You are the builder here. We're looking for a Director of Engineering with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in security, distributed systems, cloud computing, databases and building highly available data services. You should be a strong SW Engineering leader with a proven track record and expertise in software design and development of services and their capabilities within a large-scale cloud. You must have a proven ability to identify and execute on the deliverables you set.

The ideal candidate is an expert in modern security engineering and has experience building tools and services that enable a built-in secure by default approach. You will collaborate with stakeholders in our Security and Compliance organizations to own our global compliance story by working with peers to implement standards, build automated evidence collection systems, software systems that enforce standards, and more.

You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn. You will direct and ensure the implementation of operational policies through other managers, interact internally and externally with executive management involving negotiation of difficult matters to influence policy.

Responsibilities

As a Director in the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of security engineering, cloud computing, databases and software architecture to manage software design and development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to current and future design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision improvements to the architecture. How will we build this? It will be up to you and our other talented leaders to collaborate. We apply solid engineering and design principles to develop world-class, highly available services. An entrepreneurial mindset with a fast-paced mentality is critical for success in this position. We need a leader with a passionate can-do attitude, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to collaborate while acting as a thought leader in your area of expertise in the product.

  • Define technology and operational strategy and supporting roadmaps

  • Manage the design, development, and operations of the team with a focus on operations excellence and availability

  • Develop strategies that to build security features and functionality into the product

  • Collaborate with stakeholders in Compliance and Security to own the audit lifecycle

  • Recruit and build out a diverse, capable and cohesive engineering team

  • Drive continuous improvement through the ability to see & understand the future state of Cloud Data Services

  • Ability to translate and message impactful business stories that drive action

  • Able to thrive in ambiguous situations, identify/create process, and governance where needed

  • Own and drive strategies that optimize performance

  • Identify, influence, and support key decision points that for the ultimate customer experience

  • Partner and maintain key relationships with Operations, Support, Product Management and Engineering organizations within Oracle

  • Develop and monitor metrics to measure key performance indicators and business performance

  • Ability to succeed through collaboration and navigate through other internal and external organizations and individuals

  • Ability to learn quickly and adjust to changing priorities while maintaining a positive, can-do attitude.

  • 15+ years leading complex technical/ engineering product and cloud service teams with most of this experience in a cloud environment

  • 15+ years of relevant work experience in cloud computing, cloud services, databases or big data or NoSQL technologies or data science and data analytics

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $156,800 to $262,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
