Zurich North America is currently looking for an AVP & Actuary or Actuary to join our Middle Market and E&S Reserving team. Our preference is for the position to be based in our Schaumburg, IL office, with consideration for individuals who may be based out of another Zurich North America office location or remote.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the E&S Business Unit in the following:
• Provide the Company with reasonable and insightful actuarial estimates of IFRS 17 reserves
• Assist actuarial and other stakeholders through reserve study deep dives and ad hoc analysis
- Coordinate and develop expected loss ratios (reserving view) at the Technical Virtuous Circle meetings
• Communicate results and study insights to Business Unit and Finance leadership
• Support the monthly and quarterly financial close and ensure reserves are appropriatlely booked
• Complete ground-up and top-down planning/forecasting IFRS17 loss ratios
• Support BU Virtuous Circle and AvE meetings
• Establish and maintain excellent communication and collaboration within as well as between teams
- Assists in the training of less experienced personnel.
This role will be filled at either the Senior or AVP Level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position
Basic Qualifications:
Actuary:
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates DegreeOR
Bachelors DegreeAND
5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certificationOR
10 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification
OR
AVP & Actuary:
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates DegreeOR
Bachelors DegreeAND
8 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certificationOR
13 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification
Preferred Qualifications:
FCAS
Prior commercial lines reserving experience
Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management) and knowledge/skills reflective of a senior practitioner
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly possessing the ability to share technical results and recommendations to audiences at varying levels of analytic understanding
Strong understanding of IFRS17
Solid project management and organizational skills to work on multiple priorities
Experience with mentoring colleagues and peers
Experience with Microsoft Office suite and knowledge of statistical analysis software

The salary indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The combined salary range for this position is $127,400.00-$239,800.00.The proposed salary range for the Actuary is $127,400.00 - $208,600.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%. Forthe AVP & Actuary is$146,500.00 -$239,800.00,with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.
