Responsibilities

Functions up to 75% of the time as a Athletic Trainer within Department of Orthopedics/Sports Medicine. Additionally, assists Supervisor with oversight of the work unit. Works with Supervisor and Department leadership to develop strategy and programming for Outreach Athletic Training Services as well as expands the role of the Athletic Trainer in the Department with Supervisor and Department leadership through the development of strategic goals. Performs certain delegated supervisory responsibilities on a regular basis. Provides guidance for employees in their daily work, as needed. Participates in the selection, orientation, and training of new employees. Coordinates work unit schedules. Executes certain phases of work unit operation, handling of questions and troubleshooting problems, reviews work unit duties for proficiency and competency, and handles employee-related duties such as performance appraisals, discussing job performance, and handling employee problems. Assumes responsibilities of the Supervisor in their absence.

Qualifications

A Master's degree in Exercise Science or related field of study and certification by the Athletic Training Board of Certification. Licensed to practice in the state of Minnesota. CPR certification is required. Must have at least 2 years’ experience working as an Athletic Trainer. Must be able to demonstrate clinical proficiency with good manual dexterity to effectively evaluate patients. Must have strong communication and human relations skills to interact with clinicians, administrators, and other members of the leadership team. Additional experience and training in management and supervision is desirable. Certified Athletic Trainer, Licensed Minnesota Athletic Trainer, CPR Certification

Schedule Details

Monday – Friday – afternoon and evening hours of AT services to area school and/or team.

Weekend Schedule

Saturday/Sundays – occasionally with hours generally between late mornings and afternoons to cover events. Administrative hours will be typically during the morning hours or early afternoon hours between Monday through Friday. Which will be an average of 10 hours per week.
