Position Summary

Performs inspections on purchased materials according to defined inspection criteria utilizing various gages and vision systems and accurately document the results with good documentation practices. Performs basic maintenance and calibration of inspection equipment. Coordinates all calibrations with internal and external providers and accurately documents calibration records and due dates. Performs internal audits of documentation as required. Performs First Article Inspections as required. Assists quality inspectors with WIP, finished goods, shipping, return processing, and receiving inspection. Assists Quality Engineering in documentation updates.

Principal Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities and duties will be in a support role to the Quality Engineering Team.

• Performs visual and dimensional inspections and assists quality inspectors as needed.

• Assist in the nonconformance (product or process) activities including immediate actions, containment, root cause investigation; corrective action and disposition of nonconforming materials during Material Review Board (MRB) meetings.

• Support Customer Material Information and Survey Request process.

• Work closely with new product development engineers and supports protocol, procedure, and specification development. Assist with completion of process validations or test method validations.

• Assist QE with development, maintenance, and approval of Inspection Procedures and Test Methods and provides training as required.

• Performs internal audits on WIP, raw goods, and finished goods as directed.

• Performs visual, dimensional, and documentation inspection on incoming materials and records the results.

• Performs First Article Inspection Reports as needed.

• Primary backup for Senior Quality Assurance Technician position.

• Assists with processing returns and shipping activities as they pertain to the Quality department.

• Facilitate and support Customer and Supplier Change Notifications by performing initial investigations into material usage.

• Support the Quality System through development and revision of procedures, inspection plans, test methods and work instructions.

• Has a general understanding of Teleflex documentation system as it applies to manufacturing.

• Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Keeps work area clean of debris.

• Is aware of general equipment hazards and follows and utilizes all applicable safety standards

• Aware of first aid supplies location.

• Aware of all emergency procedures

Education / Experience Requirements

• American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification (Auditor, Inspector, Technician)

or

• 2 years of Quality Assurance experience working in medical device manufacturing environment

or

• 4 years of manufacturing experience working in a medical device manufacturing environment

• Prior experience in use of inspection equipment is required.

• Additional experience in the following area or skill is preferred:

o Technical writing skills

o Prior drawing and specification reading experience

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

• This position requires good communications and mathematic skills.

• cGMP,GDP, QSR and ISO 13485/9001 knowledge base

• Proficient in MS Word, Excel required

• SAP ERP knowledge is highly preferred.

• Good oral and written communication skills

• Good interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment preferred

• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities

• Self-motivated

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Ability to work in cross-functional team environment

• Individual must demonstrate leadership skills and can utilize a variety of instructions in written oral, and visual form.

• This position requires employee to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, and occasionally lift to fifty pounds.

• Prior training in Right to Know, GMP and Clean Room Procedures is required.
