GENERAL FUNCTION The Service Technician Specialist performs technology service and repair work in the service department and provides troubleshooting support to customers and coworkers via telephone and e-mail. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform service and repair work on customers' equipment and used equipment within Service Department. Perform troubleshooting support via telephone and email to customers and co-workers with a high level of professionalism and courtesy. Complete service reports; detail product problems encountered, service work completed, and replacement parts used. Maintain time log data sheets. Prepare service estimates for parts, labor, and shipping. Obtain customer authorization for service work to be completed based upon estimated costs. Achieve and maintain proper repair work standards to stated specifications. Observe and seek to improve communication systems between the sales force, the Operations Manager, and the Service Department to better serve the needs of our customers and the interests of the company. Investigate warranty claims by providing written reports and testimony regarding product failure. Continually review and improve processes to simplify jobs. Handle requests from management on a timely basis. Perform quality audits as requested. Maintain work area in a neat, clean and organized condition. Understand and follow all company policies and procedures and assure compliance with all attendance and safety rules & regulations. Maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and HIPAA protected information. Willingly assist others as necessary to keep work current, meet deadlines or maintain an even workload. Cooperate with other coworkers and demonstrate a good attitude. Perform an acceptable quantity and quality of work on time as required. Provide proper training, work direction, and technical guidance for less experienced coworkers. Attends company-sponsored training meetings when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience Demonstrates mechanical and/or electrical aptitude. Good troubleshooting ability and interpersonal skills with peers, strong telephone skills with customers and vendors. Able to lift a d/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job, including close vision and color vision. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Associate degree in computer/Electronics Technology Experience with specialized electronic testing equipment including oscilloscopes, optical camera alignment tools, and digital multi-meters Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, analyze digital and analog waveforms, and ability to perform component-level circuit board repairs Employee pay is determined by multiple factors, including geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements.
