Aerotek Diesel Mechanic Shop Manager in Morristown, Minnesota
Job Description
Manage a team of Service Advisors, Parts Advisors, and Shop Mechanics. Oversee schedules, work assignments, and performance monitoring. Ensure smooth operations and high-quality maintenance and repair services.
Responsibilities
Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities based on priority, equipment quantity, and personnel skills.
Create, monitor, and adjust employee schedules, including handling time off requests in coordination with Human Resources.
Be available outside of normal work hours to assist mechanics and dispatchers during 2nd and 3rd shifts, and handle weekend shop emergencies/concerns.
Investigate accidents or injuries and prepare reports in coordination with the Human Resource Manager.
Monitor employees' work levels and review work performance.
Coordinate work activities and resolve employee grievances in collaboration with management.
Counsel employees on work-related issues and assist in correcting job-skill deficiencies.
Recommend or initiate personnel actions such as hires, promotions, transfers, discharges, or disciplinary measures.
Coach and develop technicians through direct hands-on training of repairs and operational procedures.
Essential Skills
Experience in diesel troubleshooting and repair
Knowledge of diesel engines and preventive maintenance
5+ years of experience in a shop or service center environment, preferably with a focus on fleet management
Experience managing a team of mechanics and coordinating with vendors
Proven track record of delivering quality repairs and maintenance on time and within budget
Knowledge of vehicle systems and maintenance requirements
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $90000.00
