As a Sheriff's Telecommunicator, you will provide non-emergency and 911 emergency public safety dispatching services to one of the largest radio systems in the nation. Hennepin County Sheriff's Office's 911 Dispatch division is dedicated to serving as the vital link between the public and public safety organizations through responsiveness, compassion, and professionalism. Targeted starting salary range: $65,249.60 - $81,741.98 Annually Full salary range: $54,494.66 - $81,741.98 Annually Location and hours: This position is located at the 911 Emergency Communications Center at 1245 Shenandoah Lane North, Plymouth, MN 55447. There is no public transportation to this site. Candidates must be available to work various shifts that includes day, evening, night, overnight, holiday, and weekend hours. Anyone indicating limited availability will not be considered. Shifts may start at: 7 a.m., 11 a.m., 3 p.m., or 7 p.m. Based on current requirements hires must live in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. Qualified candidates will be invited via email to take the CritiCall test online on your own computer. New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment. In this position, you will: Receive incoming emergency, routine, and administrative calls and ask callers for pertinent police, fire, and/or medical information. Determine response requirements and relative priorities of situations; receive and transmit information and messages by radio or telephone to police, fire, and/or medical units. Operate multi-channel computerized communication console, multi-line phone system, Next Generation 911 emergency phone system, and Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems. Coordinate activities for public safety units on various radio systems. Enter, update, and retrieve information from local, state, and national computerized data systems. Disseminate severe weather and disaster warning/watch information.
