Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

The New Product Development Mechanical Engineer III designs and develops innovative mechanical and electro-mechanical product components or sub-systems for industrial equipment. This position works as part of a cross-functional development team to create designs that meet requirements for performance, product cost, and the project schedule. Perform as the Technical Lead for critical Sub-Systems design/development. Applies principles of engineering and science to achieve product designs at the subsystems level that deliver lasting competitive advantage. Creates new concepts to achieve functions of assigned mechanical and electro-mechanical subsystems. Establishes subsystem performance specifications and plans for evolution of these specifications over time. Prepares preliminary layouts, models, sketches and/or schematic diagrams to aid in the understanding and solution of engineering problems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop innovative mechanical and electro-mechanical product components or sub-systems for industrial equipment.

  • Work as part of a cross-functional development team to create designs that meet performance, product cost, and project schedule requirements.

  • Perform as the Technical Lead for critical Sub-Systems design and development.

  • Apply principles of engineering and science to achieve product designs at the subsystems level that deliver lasting competitive advantage.

  • Create new concepts to achieve functions of assigned mechanical and electro-mechanical subsystems.

  • Establish subsystem performance specifications and plans for evolution of these specifications over time.

  • Prepare preliminary layouts, models, sketches, and/or schematic diagrams to aid in the understanding and solution of engineering problems.

Essential Skills

  • Mechanical engineering

  • Product development engineering

  • Integrated product development

  • Design

  • BSME or equivalent

  • 5+ years mechanical engineering in product development

  • Sub-system or system level integration experience

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong project planning/management experiences

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) a plus

  • Experience in electric vehicle and/or autonomous vehicle development preferred

  • Strong technical background with machine and system integration experiences on complex electro-mechanical systems, ideally on electric vehicle architectures, systems, and subsystems

  • Demonstrated experience in vehicle-level systems requirements development, management, and architecture definition

  • Experience with problem-solving processes, tools, and techniques (8D, Six Sigma/DMAIC, root cause analysis tools: DFMEA, 5-why, fishbone, etc.)

Work Environment

90% design and development. Support both industrial and commercial products. Engineers and manufactures in Golden Valley.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $55.00
