Ongoing clinical islet allograft research involves an interdisciplinary collaboration with both clinical and translation research efforts to support the clinical islet allograft program. The research professional will also support innovative efforts to develop, expand and analyze islet allograft trials as well as to support the existing expanded access program for clinical islet transplantation. The research professional will assist with the development and completion of additional bench research designed to identify issues to potentially improve the clinical outcomes. The research professional will also support the analysis of data in preparation of grant applications and publications. There will be no direct patient care or clinical duties associated with this position. In collaboration with the William Harmon Surgical Research Initiative, the research professional will also be involved clinical and translation research activities with the Department of Surgery. The individual will be expected to innovate and independently execute various clinical research endeavors with the Department of Surgery. This will include creating accurate scientific study protocols, identifying appropriate research design and methodology, managing existing research team members, ensuring weekly progress, quality control of collected data. Independently preparing abstracts, manuscripts for scientific publication. Professional Responsibilities: 1.) The research professional will facilitate progress related to the islet allograft clinical collaborative. The researcher will work to develop and maintain a database for the islet allograft clinical collaborative that supports the associated research project. He/She will ensure that faculty members are updated related to the islet allograft clinical collaborative and will facilitate communication and coordination of research ideas between the members of the relevant Clinical and Research Departments associated with the islet allograft clinical collaborative (10%) 2) The researcher will create, tabulate and record data from clinical research, transplantation research, and experimental islet research to identify areas for the improvement of islet allograft program in preparation for grant applications, publications, and presentations at various regional, national and international meetings. (10%) 3) The researcher will be also assist in creating, design and executing various research projects with critical care surgery and surgical education. The professional will ensure weekly progress by monitoring each team members progress. He/She will be involved in quality control and quality assurance of the data collected and will regularly update the department on the weekly progress achieved. (20%) 4) The research professional will be involved with analysis of the collected data and will additionally be involved with clinical data analysis from large, national and regional health care outcomes research databases. Statistical expertise will be required in the design and analytic phase of research. Advanced statistical modelling techniques including data aggregation, feature set generation, predictive modeling will be required to successfully analyze the data. (20%) 5) The research professional will be involved in the development of scientific communications, abstracts, manuscripts, and the preparation of grant applications. (40%) Qualifications Minimum Requirements: * Advanced Healthcare Degree: MD, MS (Biological Sciences/Biostatistics), MD/MS with 1 or m re years of research training or Equivalent. * Ability to perform large-scale clinical data analysis, data aggregation, feature set generation, predictive modeling, and clinical analytic data development. * Ability to write grants, scientific manuscripts and publications. * Ability to lead a research team.
