The employee will carry out responsibilities with the instruction, guidance and direction by the supervisor and will be expected to become increasingly independent and serve as a resource for other lab members. The work will be molecular methodologies to test hypotheses and improve knowledge of RNA mechanisms in viruses and host cells. Job responsibilities: 60%) Cell-based assays testing viral and host RNA functions under a variety of settings and with a variety of molecular techniques including NextGen seq analysis. (20%) Data analysis and report generation by a variety of software packages (e.g. Excel, Geneious, PRISM) (20%) Literature and database analysis using software packages (e.g. NCBI, MEME, ClustralW, others) This will be a one-year contract with possible extension. Salary $41,600.00 Qualifications All required qualifications must be included in the application materials Required: BA/BS in Chemistry, Microbiology, Genetics or related field of science with relevant coursework in molecular and cellular biology or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years. Previous experience in a research setting performing cell culture and transfection, gene cloning and sequence analysis, PCR Proficiency in electronic data documentation of work plan, data and results, and database management. Maintains productive relationships with others even when faced with conflict Listens respectfully and openly to others regardless of level, position, or background Demonstrates ability on a daily basis to identify and troubleshoot problems.
