We seek an energetic, organized person to work directly with Dr. Paul Drawz on projects utilizing electronic health records (EHR) for clinical research and quality improvement. The position will work remotely and at the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension offices in the 717 Delaware Building. Current projects include * NIH-funded HOMESTEAD study evaluating home BP monitoring among Veterans * MNEHR Consortium projects, including the COVID-19 Project, Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) Common Data Model (CDM) Implementation Project, Hennepin County SUD project, MADMC project, and Health Trends Across Communities (HTAC) Project Responsibilities In collaboration with investigators in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension and other researchers throughout the University of Minnesota, MNEHR Consortium, and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), duties for these positions include: Project Management (50%): * Managing/overseeing/coordinating day-to-day activities of multiple research projects within the university and across the consortium sites * Serve as the lead project manager on multiple federally funded (NIH, CDC) research studies. Includes research planning and implementation; requires independent judgement on project implementation involving complex issues. * Primary point person for coordinating with external collaborating sites to ensure smooth implementation of contracting, data use agreements, protocol implementation, data management, and analyses * Coordinate and conduct meetings with collaborators and data analysts from collaborating sites * Collaborate with the Department's regulatory specialist for all required IRB documentation. This includes initial applications, continuing reviews, protocol amendments, responding to stipulations, etc. * Oversee program activities to ensure the ethical conduct of research and compliance with GCPs, state and federal regulations, and University and Clinical Partner policies and procedures. Data Management and Analysis (30%): * Data quality analysis and manipulation using SQL and R. Apply standardized techniques and modify techniques in accordance with the requirements of each project. * Write code for programs to process data from multiple sources into various types of datasets to be used for progress tracking and analysis * Conduct data runs at the university pertaining to the consortium projects * Manage data runs across consortium sites; and preparation of study datasets consistent with the university and consortium projects Data dissemination (15%): * Collaborate on reports, conference papers, and publications, including first-authoring papers as time warrants * Prepare manuscripts for publication and work with journal editors/reviewers to revise manuscripts for publication. Liaison/Supervision of Staff (5%): * Mentor/coach or provide guidance, leading project teams, committees, and/or other collaborative efforts * Interview study employees - assign, schedule, direct work, and/or evaluate the work of colleagues and/or co-workers. Other duties as assigned Qualifications Required Qualifications: (Must be documented in all application material) *BA/BS with at least six (6) years of experience or advanced degree with 4 years of experience. *Experience with multi-site data and project management, and the desire to learn new skills *Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint *Experience with SQL and R software and OMOP dat bases *Experience working independently in a rapidly changing scientific environment *Experience in public health surveillance and research projects related to hypertension, COVID, vaccine effectiveness, and chronic kidney diseases *Strong interpersonal skills, and excel at clear and concise written and oral communication *Demonstrated skills in problem-solving, decision-making, ensuring meticulous attention to details Benefits Working at the University At the University of Minnesota, you'll find a flexible work environment and supportive colleagues who are interested in lifelong learning.
