Projects include 1) dietary and genetic mouse models of aging and aging-related disease, 2) characterization of organelle interactions and how they compartmentalize metabolism and signaling, 3) defining new mechanisms through which metabolism can influence genomic stability, and 4) characterizing protein modifications (via changes in sirtuins) that link diet and metabolic states to aging and disease development. Essential Duties: 80% Oversee ongoing studies 15% Writing (manuscripts and fellowships), reading, workshops, etc. 5% Mentoring junior laboratory members The annual salary for this position will be $61,008, or the FY25 NIH postdoc stipend level equivalent if available at the time of hire. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Must have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, physiology, or related field and some experience pertinent to the specific projects. Must be able to contribute to a positive, collaborative, and stimulating working environment. Preferred Qualifications: Expertise in animal husbandry and phenotyping (project 1), microscopy (project 2), or basic biochemical and molecular biology techniques (projects 2 through 4). About the Department The department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biophysics is committed to understanding the molecular mechanisms of metabolic diseases and cancer; developing novel strategies in biocatalysis and biotechnology; and advancing knowledge through structural biology and molecular biophysics.We organize ourselves into research divisions with emphasis on Chemical and Structural Biology, Metabolic and Systems Biology, Molecular Biology and Synthetic Biology and Biotechnology. We are housed in new buildings with state-of-the-art research and support facilities. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $61,008 - $61,008, or if announced, the FY25 NIH postdoc stipend level equivalent to 0 years experience.
