This includes cashiering, money reconciliation, personnel management, visual merchandising, information systems, marketing, public relations and service related activities. In addition, this team member also serves as a cross functional team member within Course Materials and Ecommerce Departments. This position supports our retail efforts to serve customers, resolve and troubleshoot issues. Responsibilities include working with buyers to develop merchandising plans, forecast and maintain inventory levels based on demands and sale trends, and providing excellent customer service. Additional responsibilities include student supervision, training and ecommerce/course materials support. This position serves on the Bookstore's Operations team, ensuring excellent customer service and compliance in all activities. This part time position reports directly to the Course Materials Manager. Responsibilities 50%- Daily Operations * Lead day to day retail operations of the St. Paul Bookstore * Assist with store promotions and off-site events * Balance and reconcile * Open and close the St. Paul Bookstore * Merchandise products * Maintain Inventory 25%-Course Materials Support * Assist with Course Works Adoptions * Correspond with departments and instructors regarding course material adoptions * Coordinate Course material returns to publishers 10% - Student Support * Work with the University of Minnesota Bookstore team to ensure departmental coverage and exceptional customer service standards * Supervise, train, and coach student employees * Record student attendance and performance issues 10% - Customer Service * Serve as a backup to departmental staff in Operation departments as needed. * Respond, troubleshoot and resolve customer inquiries * Foster and build positive relationships internally and externally furthering the University's commitment to diversity, equity and inclusivity 5% - Misc. * Miscellaneous duties as assigned and assist in all areas as needed Essential Functions of the Position * Deliver high standards for customer service * Lead day to day operation of the St. Paul Bookstore * Serve as back up in Course Material and Ecommerce departments * Supervise, train and coach students * Maintain cash room and balancing duties * Miscellaneous duties as assigned Work Environment Work is performed mainly in a retail store and office setting with some office/computer work. Primarily scheduled work days are Monday through Saturday, 24 hours per week. Classification #: 1885, Executive & Admin Specialist Salary Range: C4/29A $22.71 - $34.08 Status: Non-Exempt Probationary Period: 6 months Last Revision: July 15, 2024 Qualifications Minimum Qualifications * High School Diploma/GED and four years general office/clerical experience. Training/education may substitute for some of the experience. Computer experience required. Requires knowledge and/or demonstrated ability to perform general office tasks. Specific knowledge/skills may be required. * Experience training others and a demonstrated ability to lead. * 1 year customer service in a retail environment * Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Google Software platforms.
