This position often functions as an unsupervised laboratory operator and/or performs other tasks within the Ascentek manufacturing process as well as laboratory cleaning and maintenance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary duty is to perform engine testing. Keeps engine tests running safely and performs scheduled samples and logging. Perform maintenance and repairs on test engines, facilities, control systems, and other mechanical hardware. Follows written and verbal instructions on shop processes. References parts and service manuals to perform work correctly. Uses basic working knowledge of hand and power tools to assist in fabrication of test fixtures and mounting systems. Uses knowledge of DAQ system to operate software systems during testing. Assists in installing and removing engine test stands from test cells and engines from test stands. Photographs test components for presentations and review. Maintains a clean test lab environment (Sweeping and mopping of floors, vacuuming rugs, cleaning windows, emptying trash containers). Perform shipping of engine components including packing of engines and engine parts and filling out shipping documentation. Perform additions and mixing of fuels and lubricants as well as coolants and cleaners. Generates parts supply lists and maintains inventory. Hours and days of the week may vary based on the organization's workload and deadlines. Flexible work hours. 2-year technical degree in a related field or related experience. 0-4 years of related experience. Requires mechanical experience with Powersports and/or small engines. Requires excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with employees, customers, and vendors. Requires proficiency with hand and power tools and basic fabrication skills. Requires the ability to use a personal computer and word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and use hands, handle or touch test parts, tools, or controls. The employee occasionally will be required to sit and perform tasks at a desk or control station. The employee will frequently be required to perform math and reading functions as well as troubleshooting and problem solving. The employee will occasionally be required to lift up to 75 pounds while performing engine installation or removal. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include attention to running engines and the ability to pick out slight changes in running engines. The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that mus be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Protective clothing: Lab coat, eye, and hearing protection provided. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a testing laboratory and warehouse environment. The noise level is usually moderate but can be very loud at times. The employee will occasionally be working around hot engines, high-speed moving parts, and a wide range of temperature conditions.
