This hourly position will work 15-20 hours per week with working hours between 5:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. central standard time Monday through Sunday, excluding University closures. The reader group will begin working in mid-September, with most freshman review completed by mid-February. This position works 100% remote and requires a private, secluded work space with reliable, fast internet. This position is not benefits-eligible. Application review training and guidance will be provided. Starting salary for this position will be $22 per hour. JOB DUTIES: * Read undergraduate applications for admission to the University of Minnesota. * Analyze qualifications of prospective students utilizing admissions guidelines; submit evaluations and recommendations regarding admissibility of applications to freshman- and transfer-admitting colleges and programs. * Evaluate electronic applications, digital high school academic records, and various digital test scores, including ACT, SAT, GED, and any other electronic information submitted for Fall 2023 freshman applications. * Evaluate electronic applications, digital high school and college academic records and transcripts, and various digital test scores, including ACT, SAT, GED, and any other electronic information submitted for transfer student applications. * Build up to completing an accurate review of 6-9 applications per hour, if not, more. Qualifications ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: * BA/BS degree or a combination of education and experience equal to 4 years to include. One year of relevant work experience in a field related to the job duties. * Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds. * Strong commitment to the value of diversity in education. * Moderate to advanced computer skills. Demonstrated ability to independently and quickly navigate internet-based tools with little to no guidance. * Able to sit and view a computer screen for 4-8 consecutive hours per day while maintaining accuracy and productivity. * Able to work quietly and diligently in an environment that includes interruptions and moderate noise throughout the workday. * Demonstrated ability to promote a welcoming and encouraging work environment for all staff. * Able to arrive for shifts on time and maintain consistent attendance. * Strong attention to detail. * Must be a team player. * Must work from a location in the United States of America PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * BA/BS degree plus one year of related experience in college admission counseling or academic advising at the high school or college level. * Moderate to advanced computer skills. Demonstrated ability to independently and quickly navigate internet-based tools with little to no guidance. * Familiarity with international test scores (TOEFL, IELTS) and foreign education systems and high school equivalency documents.
