This posting will be used to fill current and future intermittent Registered Nurse (RN) positions at the Minnesota Veterans Home-Luverne. An intermittent employee works an irregular and uncertain schedule, based on the needs of the home. Intermittent employees must be available to work a variety of shifts and some weekends. Shifts are Days/6:45 am - 3:15 pm; Evenings/2:45 pm - 11:15 pm; Nights/10:45 PM - 7:45 AM.
This position delivers care within the RN scope of practice, as defined in the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act and in accordance with current federal, state and Veteran Administration regulations. Provide assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver quality resident-centered care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the residents.
Minimum Qualifications

Current Minnesota registered Nurse license with no restrictions.*
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Knowledge of nursing practices and techniques sufficient to provide effective nursing care for residents.
Skill in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships.
Effective communication skills sufficient to provide and follow instructions.
Computer experience sufficient to complete electronic charting and use basic computer functions such as email.
Ability to make decisions within the scope of nursing responsibilities.
Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing care provided by other staff, make or recommend changes, and provide mentoring.
Ability to teach self-help skills to residents.
*If you are not currently licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse, you must be able to obtain licensure by date of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a skilled nursing facility
Long-term care experience
Geriatric care experience
Experience with minimum data set (MDS) assessments
Additional Requirements
A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position. When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
