Manage and oversee daily maintenance and scheduling of semi-trucks and drivers to ensure trucks and drivers are available to the business's customers. Assess maintenance and repair for transportation vehicles and equipment both when parked and when there is an emergency on the road. Fix damaged vehicles directly or assist others in locating mechanics for repairs. Perform routine maintenance. Be at the worksite regularly to ensure trucks and drivers are ready to complete routes. Communicate daily to clarify routes and duties. Keep detailed records of vehicle and driver schedule and maintenance logs and deliver reports on these documents to the supervisor. Train and mentor new employees in the trade and develop current ones to improve professional and technical skills. Devise and implement vehicle maintenance and safety protocols.
