Description

We are seeking a Staff Accountant based in Edina, Minnesota. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for various accounting processes, encompassing investment accounting, other accounting, financial reporting, and financial analysis.

Responsibilities include:

• Execution of investment accounting procedures, including preparation and reconciliation of monthly investment reports and journal entries

• Coordination of investment accounting process with outsourced investment accounting firm and investment managers

• Execution of various other accounting tasks including monthly premium and loss journal entries, tax journal entries and reinsurance premium and loss journal entries

• Preparation of the company’s premium tax returns and estimated quarterly payments to various state insurance departments

• Assisting in statutory financial reporting compliance with different entities

• Assisting in audits conducted by outside financial examiners

• Preparation of lead schedules and assistance with the preparation of GAAP and STAT workpapers and audit reports

• Preparation of monthly premium and loss analysis reports

• Tracking and maintaining policy retention and new business reports

• Collaborating with the IT department on developing new reports as needed.

Requirements

• 1-2 years experience in a staff accountant role

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field

• Candidate should have experience in conducting Bank Reconciliations

• Familiarity with the General Ledger and Journal Entries is required

• Exceptional communication skills and team collaboration skills
