This position exists to provide fire protection and related services to personnel and resources of the Duluth Air National Guard Base, Duluth International Airport, and the surrounding communities.
Minimum Qualifications
Must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Required IFSAC Certifications:
Must be IFSAC certified as Firefighter II
Must be IFSAC certified as Airport Firefighter within 9 months of hire
Must be IFSAC certified as Driver Operator ARFF within 9 months of hire
Must be IFSAC certified as Driver Operator Pumper within 9 months of hire
Must be IFSAC certified as Driver Operator Mobile Water Supply (MWS) within 9 months of hire
Must be IFSAC certified as Hazardous Materials Operations within 9 months of hire
Must be certified to the Minnesota EMSRB as an EMR upon hire and a National Registered EMT within 6 months of hire.
Ability to obtain an Air National Guard and DIAP security clearance.
Must possess a current/valid driver’s license.
IFSAC-International Fire Service Accreditation Congress
The strength & agility needed for heavy lifting, sustained physical effort and maneuvering under adverse conditions; ability to meet and maintain NFPA physical condition standards. (Employment is contingent upon passing a firefighter occupational physical given by employer physician and paid for by employer.)
Preferred Qualifications
-IFSAC certified as Public Telecommunicator I and II.
-Working Knowledge of vehicle communication systems and resources.
-Working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local fire ground communications.
-Must be thoroughly familiar with the operation of all assigned apparatus and equipment.
-Must be thoroughly familiar with egress and safety procedures of all civilian and military aircraft assigned.
-Must possess a working knowledge of installed aircraft arresting barriers.
-Must have the ability to maintain discipline and work under adverse conditions as a team.
-Possess the abilities to follow directions, to take criticism, to get along with co-workers and supervisors, to treat co-workers, supervisors, and customers with respect and courtesy, and to refrain from abusive, insubordinate or violent behavior.
-Must have working knowledge of computer based programs for daily operations of the fire station.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to pass a medical examination.
