Spend Summer 2025 at Essentia Health as a Student Nurse Intern!

As a Student Nurse Intern, you will work under direct supervision, providing essential support in both routine and technical aspects of nursing care for patients of all ages.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with patient care activities while adhering to best practices and protocols.

• Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure compliance with the Joint Commission and other relevant federal, state, and local regulations.

• Help maintain a safe and healing environment for patients and families.

• Critical Care Units (Neurotrauma and Cardiac)

• Ortho-trauma/Urology

• Neuro-trauma

• Post-Op General Surgery

• General Medical

• Medical/Surgical*

• Cardiac - Telemetry

• Oncology

• Float Pool

• Observation

• Inpatient Rehab

• Emergency Department (ED)*

• Behavioral Health

• Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

• Birthing Center

• Maternal Child Float Pool (NICU, Birth Center, Pediatrics)

*Also available at Essentia Health Superior in Wisconsin

Internship Requirements:

• Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program

• Bachelor’s Degree Students: must have completed Junior year of nursing program prior to Summer 2025

• Associate Degree Students : must have completed two semesters of nursing clinical prior to Summer 2025

• Enrolled in a nursing co-operative internship course for the summer 2025 semester

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within one month of hire

• Must be able to commit to 32-40 hours/week (up to 400 hours for the entire summer). Shifts: day, night, and weekend

• Students with full/part-time summer class loads will have adjusted hour requirements and must be able to commit to 32 hours every two weeks

Shift Start/End: Varies: 12 hours - 7am or 7pm; 8 hours - 7am, 3pm, 11pm/Varies: 12 hours - 7:30am or 7:30pm; 8 hours - 3:30pm, 11:30pm, or 7:30am

Hours Per Pay Period: 60-72
