We are looking for a highly motivated, ethical, and resilient full-time Emergency Paramedic who is a team player willing to put our patients first. Working closely within the Emergency Room and the CRMC EMS system using top of the line equipment and rigs, the ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively and independently as they deal with both injury and illness while still maintaining a keen awareness of the emotional toll emergency situations take on our patients. Paramedics are highly trained and dedicated members of our health care team working at the top of their scope of practice, but the best applicant will also be an efficient and effective problem solver who is eager to learn, able to demonstrate resourcefulness in emergency situations, and capable of demonstrating standards of excellence in all assigned duties.
Qualifications:
Hold current paramedic certification from the State of Minnesota (EMSRB)
Ability to obtain American Heart Association BLS certification within 30 days of hire and PALS and ACLS within 4 months of hire (provider or instructor-level)
Proof of EVOC training in the last 3 years or completed within 6 months of hire
Previous experience in Emergency Medical Services (preferred)
Special Skills:
Participates in the preceptor process
Prepared at all times to swiftly & safely respond to calls, ensure the safety of the scene, safely gain access to patients using the appropriate tools, and assist with the control of activities at the scene
Operates and utilizes a variety of EMS/RT equipment
Practices and maintains high ethical standards regarding resident/patient confidentiality
Follows standard protocol and instructions within established quality control procedures when performing both routine and complex processes
Specific Responsibilities & Skills:
Safely prepare and properly transfer patients to and from an ambulance for transport to the appropriate medical center, providing needed care and appropriate communication enroute by determining what may be wrong with the patient in accordance with training level and patient care protocols
Perform clerical tasks such as documenting findings, answering telephone and radio calls, maintaining logs and records, & following verbal orders from physicians for procedures and care guidelines
Complete and monitor record keeping, EMS equipment & vehicle disinfection and maintenance, communicate effectively through up-to-date reports and stock inventory, and monitor Quality Control Systems according to organized and efficient processes
Under the direction of the RN, assist with the care of patients in the Emergency Department, performing all skills that the individual is qualified to perform and has a current competency to perform on file
Assist in evaluation, troubleshooting, and development of procedures
Once fully trained, assisting in new employee orientation
Performs other duties based on role as needs arise
