The Billing Specialist is responsible for ensuring all customer bills are accurate and generated in a timely manner. This hybrid role has direct contact with the Company s internal and external customers and must provide a high level of customer service. - Generate customer invoices for work performed according to required daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines. - Accurately set up new projects in ERP system including revenue recognition and budgets - Understand and process multiple billing types including work order, time and material billing, and construction draws (AIA or similar). - Assist cash application team in properly applying payments to accounts. - Handle customers administrative needs and requests, delivering exceptional service to meet or exceed their expectations. - Resolves issues within their capability; and escalates to others when appropriate. - Build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers. - Examine the costs and impact of work processed and ensure any billable items are accounted for. - Prepare and execute required lien waivers to help ensure prompt payment. - Submit billing through online customer portals as required. - Work in conjunction with Collection Specialist to improve cash cycle and collect any past due account balances. - Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - High school diploma or equivalent required, Associate degree or higher preferred. - 1-3 years of experience in billing, accounting or related field, construction industry preferred. - Excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills. - Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, intermediate in Excel. - Self-motivated, able to work in a fast-paced environment with heavy workload. - Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively while staying organized. - Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changes in priorities. - Attention to detail. - Experience researching billing and / or pricing problems.
