Job Description

Alexandria Technical and Community College is dedicated to providing a supportive and enriching environment for our students and staff. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team In the Human Resources Department.

This position provides campus-wide professional human resource services to faculty, staff and administration. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating the new employee onboarding process, managing HRIS/payroll function, employee benefits and retirement programs, the faculty credentialing process, and the annual completion employee required trainings. In conjunction with the CHRO, interprets contract language and rules and provides advice and direction to supervisors and deans on bargaining agreement issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two years of para-professional human resources work experience, or an AAS degree or equivalent two-year degree in human resources or business-related area substitutes for six months of experience.

  • Ability to manage and complete HR business processes within an HRIS/payroll program.

  • Knowledge of employee benefits, insurance, and public pension plans.

  • Proficiency in producing and analyzing reports used to guide decision making.

  • Knowledge and skill of word processing sufficient to use software to create, format, edit and print a variety of documents, including emails, memos and reports. Ability to check completed work for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and format.

  • Knowledge of communications sufficient to answer telephones, communicate effectively with internal and external customers, explain the reasons for transactions and procedures, rules, and regulations in a manner that is understandable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field.

  • Human resources experience working in the Minnesota State system.

  • Experience with federal and state employment laws.

  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and working with confidential material.
