Basic Function

Health Educator – Empower Communities, Promote Wellness

Ramsey County seeks a passionate Health Educator to join the Public Health team. In this impactful role, you'll create and deliver health education programs, collaborate with diverse communities, and champion health equity initiatives. If you're driven to address public health challenges and foster partnerships that enhance community wellness, join us in building a healthier, more equitable future. Apply today!

The Emergency Preparedness and Response Division is hiring two permanent full time Health Educator positions in the Public Health Department to meet emergency preparedness and response priorities including coordination of the Ramsey County Medical Reserve Corps and emergency preparedness outreach and education.

The ideal candidates will demonstrate kindness, flexibility, clear communication, and strong health education skills when working with members of the public. The candidate should be comfortable working with community members who have differing levels of interest in and awareness of emergency preparedness. These positions may require a schedule outside of traditional office hours: early evenings at community events, for example or weekend outreach. Flexibility to respond to public health emergency events is also needed. These positions report to the Emergency Preparedness and Response Division Manager.

To develop, implement and evaluate community educational programs related to a specialty area of public health; and to perform related duties as assigned. (This is the entry-level class in this class series. It differs from the Health Educator 2 in that experience at this level typically enables incumbents to acquire the proficiency of skill required for advancement to Health Educator 2.)

If an internal candidate is selected, salary will be set in accordance with the personnel rules, i.e. promotion, transfer, or voluntary reduction.
